Fibreglass open boats (banana boats) continuously cross Buka passage, connecting Buka and Bougainville islands. Banana boats are also easily hired for day or half-day trips to our beautiful offshore islands.

By Road

Public motor vehicles (PMVs) travel the road on a daily basis all over Bougainville, making getting from place to place relatively easy and cheap. Outside our main centres, PMVs are usually 4WD Toyota Land Cruisers, to deal with the rather rugged roads.
